Key Takeaways:
- Over $5,000 in BTC was recently sent to Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallet.
- The transfers may be accidental or symbolic tributes.
- Satoshi’s untouched wallet continues to attract attention.
Some Bitcoin transfers are about profit. Others don’t seem to be about anything at all — except a message nobody’s fully able to decode. This one falls into the second category.
Arkham reported on July 23, 2026 that a Revolut user, or possibly multiple users, has sent Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallet more than $5,000 in Bitcoin over the past two days, spread across a series of small transfers from Revolut’s hot wallet. Arkham’s own framing of the activity was blunt: what message are they trying to send? Bitcoin trades at $64,868.00, up 1.1% over the past seven days, according to CoinGecko.
A Wallet That Has Never Needed the Money
The destination address is attributed to Satoshi Nakamoto through the Patoshi mining pattern, the technique researchers use to identify blocks believed to have been mined by Bitcoin’s pseudonymous creator in the network’s earliest days. Arkham’s tracking currently shows the wallet holding roughly 1.096 million BTC, worth close to $72 billion — a balance that has sat almost entirely untouched since 2011 and dwarfs the size of any single donation that’s ever been sent to it.

That’s what makes these transfers strange rather than significant in dollar terms. $5,000 is a rounding error against a $72 billion position. Whoever is sending it isn’t moving the needle on Satoshi’s holdings — they’re doing something else entirely.
This Isn’t the First Time
Transfers to Satoshi’s address have become a recurring, if irregular, phenomenon. Arkham has previously flagged a $200,000 transfer traced to a Binance withdrawal, a $20,000 transfer in mid-2025 that analysts guessed was either an accidental exchange withdrawal or a deliberate tribute, and a $181,000 transfer sent directly to Satoshi’s original Genesis address earlier this year — a wallet that, by design, can never spend the coins it receives. Historical donations tracked by researchers have ranged from a few thousand dollars up to $1.17 million in a single transfer.
The pattern suggests two competing explanations that show up again and again: routine user error, where someone withdrawing from an exchange mistypes or misconfigures a destination address, or intentional symbolism — early or devoted Bitcoin holders treating the transfer as a form of tribute to the network’s creator.
Why the Real Explanation May Not Matter
Bitcoin’s seven-day chart shows a steady climb from a July 19 low near $63,000 to a peak above $67,000 on July 22, before easing back to $64,868 as of July 23 — ordinary price action, unconnected to this story either way.

What keeps drawing attention to Satoshi’s wallet isn’t its balance or its influence on markets. It’s that a mostly abandoned address from Bitcoin’s origin still receives unsolicited deposits from people who, whether by accident or intention, keep reaching out to a wallet that has never once written back.
