Prominent venture capitalist and Bitcoin advocate Tim Draper reaffirmed his unwavering belief in BTC’s future during an interview with Benzinga’s Jason Raznick. Draper predicted that Bitcoin would eventually replace fiat currencies, becoming the dominant global medium of exchange. He reiterated his long-standing price forecast, stating that BTC could reach $250,000 by the end of the year.

Draper expressed concerns about a potential fiat currency crisis, warning of a time when people will scramble to move their money into Bitcoin. He speculated that this shift could happen rapidly, potentially triggering a run on the banks as people seek to escape depreciating fiat currencies. While he hopes the transition will be smooth and electronic, he warned of possible chaos if people rush to exchange their dollars for BTC all at once.

Fiat’s Decline and Bitcoin’s Rise

Draper believes Bitcoin will eventually become the preferred currency for everyday transactions, eliminating the need for fiat. He envisions a world where people can buy food, pay for housing, and even settle taxes using Bitcoin. He argued that holding fiat will become unnecessary because BTC appreciates over time, whereas fiat continuously loses value due to inflation. He likened the downfall of fiat to historical examples, such as the collapse of Confederate currency after the Civil War.

Challenging conventional valuation methods, Draper suggested that Bitcoin should no longer be measured against the dollar. He emphasized that fiat currencies are in decline, making such comparisons obsolete. Instead, he proposed evaluating Bitcoin relative to commodities or tangible assets. He described how, when viewed from this perspective, the dollar appears to be in freefall, while Bitcoin remains on an upward trajectory.

Ultimately, Draper believes Bitcoin’s value against the dollar will reach a point where it becomes immeasurable—effectively infinite.
