Some 250 days have passed since the Ethereum “Merge”, and the desire to stake ETH is continually soaring. Moreover, the recent Shapella upgrade, which permits the withdrawal of staked ETH, has propelled the demand for becoming an ETH network validator to unprecedented heights.

Immediately after the Shapella upgrade, there was a notable influx of validators unstaking and departing from the network, resulting in the withdrawal of approximately 1 million ETH within the initial few weeks. To effectively address this situation, the network implemented a daily cap of 1,800 validator exits and entries, ensuring a smooth process during the validator departure phase.

While much attention focused on these departures, earlier in May, the exit queue had been cleared. However, the entry queue has been growing steadily, with approximately 64,000 validators eagerly waiting to join the network.

Ethereum Staking: Inflows, Addresses, and Yields on the Rise
Since the exit queue has been emptied, the inflow of ETH into staking contracts has turned overwhelmingly positive. A remarkable 2.8 million ETH has been withdrawn since the implementation of Shapella, but this has been overshadowed by the impressive flow of 4.3 million ETH entering staking contracts. 

Additionally, there has been a rise in the number of depositor addresses participating in staking, indicating the emergence of a new market segment.

Furthermore, validators have witnessed an increase in their yields due to heightened on-chain activity. Consequently, this has led to an escalation in transaction fees, benefiting the validators, who receive a portion of their staking yield from the fees generated by the Ethereum network. At one point, validator yields reached approximately 8%. Although more recently, they have slightly cooled down to around 6%.

Conclusion

The surging interest in Ethereum staking is fortifying the network further. Considering the substantial queue of awaiting validators, this trend shows no signs of waning shortly. In the long run, we firmly believe that ETH remains one of the most promising cryptocurrency investments.
