According to a recent survey conducted by cryptocurrency trading platform Bitstamp, 80% of institutional investors believe that cryptocurrency will someday overtake traditional investment assets. This survey result was the first-ever of its Crypto Pulse Survey Monday.
The survey comprised a total of 28,563 respondents across North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Out of this 28,563, 5,450 were senior institutional investment strategy executives, while the remaining 23,113 were retail investors.
The survey results detailed: “88% of institutional respondents and 75% of retail investors believe that crypto will see mainstream adoption within a decade.” Bitstamp further noted:
“A further 80% of institutional investors reported that crypto will overtake traditional investment vehicles — showing a particularly bullish attitude from financial professionals on the future of crypto as an asset class.
[Of] the retail respondents, 54% believed that crypto will overtake traditional currencies within 10 years.”
Bitstamp Survey Shows Significant Level of Trust in Crypto Among Institutional Investors
Bitstamp noted that “the survey also found that levels of trust in crypto as an asset class is high.” Adding that “67% of retail respondents believe crypto is a trustworthy investment,” the survey further noted:
“70% of institutional investor respondents said that crypto was a trustworthy investment, with 68% actively recommending crypto in investment strategies.”
Over the past few months, more prominent investors have argued that institutional interest in cryptocurrency is on a significant rise. In early April, Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary forecasted that trillions of dollars could flow into crypto from institutional investors once regulation gets sorted out. O’Leary noted that cryptocurrency will become the “12th sector of the S&P.”
Meanwhile, an executive at Skybridge Capital, an asset management firm, recently affirmed that the investment company was “extremely bullish” on crypto.
Institutional investors are also expected to flood the crypto market once the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) finally approves spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
