Platinum (XPT) Breaks Through the 1,000 Barrier

Price action in the platinum (XPT) daily market has been hovering just below the $1,000 threshold for some time. Key fundamentals, such as a balanced supply at certain points, have kept the metal trading below this level. However, the market has now moved above this region, with technical indicators suggesting that the uptrend may continue.

Market Forces Impact Platinum, Yet Price Holds Above 1,000

As previously noted, XPT’s price action has regained momentum above the $1,000 mark. Additionally, trading activity now occurs above all major moving average (MA) curves. The 100-day and 200-day MA lines are converging, indicating potential trend reinforcement.

Similarly, the Stochastic Relative Strength Index (RSI) lines are rising after crossing above the 80 thresholds, signaling strong bullish momentum. However, the latest price candle on the chart is red, suggesting that downward pressure remains significant.

XPT’s Downward Retracement Appears Stable

On the 4-hour platinum chart, a downward retracement is evident. However, price action has only fallen below the 20-day MA line, while the 50-day MA remains below the most recent price candle.

The Stochastic RSI lines are declining sharply into the oversold region, with the lead line falling far ahead of the lagging one at 17.17, while the latter remains at 49.07. Given that price action is still above most MA levels and the RSI appears exaggerated, traders may anticipate a potential recovery toward $1,020.
