The Path of Bitcoin to $700,000: BlackRock CEO Larry Fink Weighs In

Bitcoin could potentially soar to $700,000 if global investors allocate even a small portion of their portfolios to the cryptocurrency, according to BlackRock CEO Larry Fink. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos during a televised interview with Bloomberg, Fink speculated on the significant impact such allocations could have.

Fink revealed discussions with a sovereign wealth fund about dedicating 2% to 5% of portfolios to BTC. “If everyone adopted that conversation, it would be $500,000, $600,000, $700,000 per bitcoin,” he said. However, he clarified, “I’m not promoting it, by the way. That is not my promotion.”

BlackRock’s Shift Toward Bitcoin

BlackRock’s stance on Bitcoin has evolved considerably in recent years. In 2021, Fink noted minimal demand for digital assets, but by 2023, his outlook had changed. He described BTC as “digitizing gold” and praised its potential to democratize and reduce costs for investors. In line with this shift, BlackRock launched the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT), now the largest  ETF, managing nearly $57 billion in assets.

Bitcoin’s Market Momentum

Amid recent political developments, including U.S. President Donald Trump floating the idea of a strategic Bitcoin reserve, the cryptocurrency’s price hit an all-time high of over $108,000. As of now, Bitcoin trades at $105,800, reflecting growing institutional interest and market confidence.

Fink’s insights underline the transformative potential of BTC in global portfolios, signaling a significant shift in traditional finance’s view of the cryptocurrency.
