Gold (XAU/USD) traded on a positive note though the early European session and renewed its daily high above $1900. However, just a few minutes ago, it got reported that Moderna’s (NASDAQ: MRNA) COVID-19 vaccine candidate has yielded a 94.5% effectivity in preventing the Coronavirus disease, which caused the safe-haven asset to plunge dramatically.

Meanwhile, before the recent drop, the yellow metal found it hard to secure its footing above the $1900 mark, despite a goodish bounce from the $1857 level. This weakness was due to the strong pickup in the US dollar (DXY) across the board.
